This page is dedicated to the West Virginia Veterans Memorial in Charleston.

The West Virginia Veterans Memorial was made to honor over 10,000 West Virginia citizens who lost their lives defending their country during the twentieth century. The monument is two-stories tall and is located on the gorunds of the State Capitol. The structure consists of four monoliths which represent the four major twentieth-century conflicts and the four major branches of military service. The interior walls have the names of the men and women that it was buit for etched into them. There are also two plaques that list the names of those who died from other battles from the Spanish-American war to the post-Gulf War peacekeeping missions.
The memorial was built in the 1980s and was designed by sculptor P. Joseph Mullins. He also sculpted the four millitary figures that represent the four branches of the armed forces. The four sculptors are a World War Two sailor, a World War one doughboy, a Korean War aviator, and a Vietnam Marine. Information is always being added to the monument.
